PaPSC is in search of peer professionals and others who have engaged in self-harm before to cope to share their experiences as part of a video. The video will be used to add depth to our training called "Peer Support for When Self-Soothing Becomes Self-Harm". We have also sent out the following questions as a survey if you would prefer to answer that way and have your quotes displayed or if you'd like to remain anonymous. Light refreshments will be available along with a peer professional to support if needed.
What does self-harm look like to you, and how would you define it?
What stigma exists around self-harm and what stigma have you experienced personally?
Why do you think you engaged in self-harm?
What questions could supports have asked that may have been helpful?
Did you experience any stereotyping that led your self-harm to be overlooked?
What scared you about sharing about self-harm?
What do you do now for self-soothing?
How is your recovery supporting you with your self-harm?
Please be aware by registering, you are agreeing to be contacted to confirm your intent to be interviewed by phone. We have to keep registration to 8 individuals due to time. If you'd like to fill out the survey you can do that here until March 27th here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VFGSHCF
This is the first of 2 dates that will be available. The second will be in Pittsburgh at a date to be determined.
