A Mental Health Advance Directive is a document that allows an individual to make their choices known regarding mental health treatment in the event that their mental illness makes them unable to make decisions. In effect, they are making decisions about treatment before the time that they need it. This allows them to make more informed decisions and to make their wishes clearly known. A law was passed in Pennsylvania, effective January 29, 2005, that makes it possible for anyone to use a Mental Health Advance Directive.
This training will prepare you to assist someone in completing a Mental Health Advanced Directive.
